Liquid Flame Guard is a revolutionary liquid fire retardant additive designed to mix with most acrylic latex coatings to create a flame retardant paint layer. It works by slowing the flame spread on treated surfaces when added to a coating.

Use where building regulations require that fire-resistant coatings be used, for example, schools, buildings, amusement parks, hospitals, nursing homes, private dwellings, day care facilities and more! Check with your state/local laws for specific rules and regulations. Always test compatibility with paint before use.

Liquid Flame Guard works by suffocating the substrate from the flame — therefore, if there is no oxygen for the flame, there is no fire.

  • Fully tintable
  • Mixes with most acrylic latex coatings, including satin and eggshell
  • Great for scenic paint like Mann Brothers and Roscopaint Off Broadway
  • Provides Class A fire rating when used as directed
  • Applies easily with a brush, roller, or sprayer

Technical details:

Tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 Standard Method of Testing for Surface Burning Characteristic of Building Materials. Testing meets UL 723, NFPA 255, & UBC 42-1 criteria: CLASS A & C* (see below); CAN/ULC-S102 Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and Assemblies test for the evaluation of interior building surfaces characteristics. Tested on rated gypsum. Flame Spread & Smoke = 0.
