Theatre Counterweights

Counterweights are used in arbors to counterbalance the weight of the batten and scenery or lights. The counterweights are flame cut steel and have 45º notches to provide accessible finger grips.

Theatre counterweights may also be referred to as bricks and pigs (short for pig iron). Collectively, the entire system of weights is sometimes called a rigging system, and the individual weights are also referred to as stage weights.
