Stage Curtain Care
Removing Wrinkles from Stage Curtains
The best and easiest way to remove wrinkles from your curtains or backdrops is to hang them a few days prior to your performance, show, or concert. Typically wrinkles will fall out over time. If you’re down to the wire, you can try brushing them (see below). Never attempt to use steam to relax wrinkles in theatrical fabrics as some fabrics are treated with flame proofing chemicals that may leave your curtains stained or discolored once they become wet. Additionally and more importantly, this may hinder the fabric’s abilities to resist flame.
Cleaning Stage Curtains
Never use liquids or water on stage curtains or theatrical fabric. Brush your curtains (always in the direction of the nap) with a new brush and vacuum if necessary. Drapery should never be steamed or dry-cleaned, as doing so may remove any flame proofing chemicals and leave your drapery susceptible to fire. Learn more here.
Storing Stage Curtains
If your stage curtains need to be stored, fold them carefully to limit wrinkles and place in a canvas bag or canvas storage hamper. Never store stage drapery in plastic bags.
